Nursing Service

Cherry County Hospital (CCH) employs a variety of nursing staff to provide medical care, surgical care, and several additional types of nursing service. All nursing care is offered in coordination with your health care provider. Below is a listing of different types of nurses and also a listing of the specialty nursing services that are offered at CCH.

Nursing Designations:

Nursing service at CCH employs a variety of nursing staff. Staff name tags inform you of the title of your caregivers which include the following:
CRNA: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
APRN: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
RN: Registered Nurse
LPN/LPNC: Licensed Practical Nurse / Certified Licensed Practical Nurse
NA/CNA: Nursing Assistant / Certified Nursing Assistant
Ward Clerk

Throughout employment with CCH, members of nursing service working on the floor are required to complete the following courses as designated:

BLS: Basic Life Support (all nursing service)
ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (RN/LPN)
NRP: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (RN/LPN)
TNCC: Trauma Nursing Care Course (RN)
PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (RN/LPN)

Skilled Care / Swing Bed Services:

Skilled Care, often referred to as Swing Bed Care is available for patients that no longer need Acute Care, but require IV treatments, Physical Therapy, and/or other qualifying Skilled Care. Medicare has specific requirements for you to qualify for Skilled Care services and several other insurance companies require pre-authorization for Skilled Care services. Outpatient Care:

Nursing service provides care for patients on a daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed basis as ordered by your primary care provider. Services may include dressing changes, catheter care, IV antibiotic administration, injections, etc. These services are scheduled per instructions from your provider and are available through nursing services at CCH. Treatments may be subject to approval from your insurance company. Please call 402.376.2525 and ask for our Director of Nursing to discuss the scheduling your Outpatient Care.

Chemotherapy:

Chemotherapy is offered on site at Cherry County Hospital (CCH) in coordination with our Oncology Clinic and visiting Oncologist, Dr. Kartik Anand from North Platte, NE. In most instances, patients receive their first chemotherapy treatment at their Oncologist's facility and after that receive subsequent treatments here at CCH.
