The DAISY Award
The DAISY Award is a prestigious international program designed to recognize and celebrate the exceptional clinical skills and compassionate care demonstrated by nurses. By honoring those who go above and beyond in their roles, the award highlights the profound impact nurses have on patient care. Cherry County Hospital takes great pride in being a DAISY Award Hospital Partner, recognizing the dedication and hard work of its nursing staff. Through this partnership, the hospital is able to acknowledge outstanding role models within its nursing community, fostering a culture of excellence, empathy, and patient-centered care.

About the DAISY Foundation:
The DAISY Foundation was founded in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who tragically passed away at the age of 33 from complications related to the autoimmune disorder Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP). The name "DAISY" is an acronym for diseases that attack the immune system. During Pat's eight-week hospitalization, his family was deeply moved by the exceptional care and compassion his nurses showed, not just to him, but to his entire family. In honor of Pat's memory, the family created the DAISY Foundation with the goal of recognizing extraordinary nurses whose dedication and selflessness make a profound impact on countless lives. Nominate an Extraordinary Nurse at Cherry County Hospital:
Each DAISY Award Honoree will be celebrated in a special ceremony within their unit, where they will receive a beautiful certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved stone sculpture called A Healer’s Touch. To mark the occasion, the entire unit will join in a celebration with cinnamon rolls, a beloved treat of Patrick’s during his illness. The Barnes family invites everyone to take a moment to pause whenever the delightful scent of cinnamon fills the air, reminding them of how truly special and appreciated nurses are.
