Key Responsibilities:
Provision of Patient Care:
- Deliver proficient and professional patient care using current technology.
- Provide direct patient care ensuring safety and comfort.
- Assist with patient admission processes.
- Establish and prioritize patient care delivery.
- Participate in patient and family education and discharge planning.
- Address age-specific needs of the patient population.
- Contribute to patient care plans.
- Serve as a patient advocate and clinical resource.
- Communicate effectively and follow through with nursing interventions.
- Recognize and respond to significant changes in patient condition.
- Ensure confidentiality and respect patients' rights.
Health Care Team Participation:
- Collaborate with team members in providing comprehensive patient care.
- Adapt to workload changes and complete assignments while maintaining quality care.
- Promote a team-oriented environment and participate in unit meetings.
- Provide input in self and peer evaluations.
- Communicate issues and participate in their resolution.
Quality Assurance/Improvement:
- Engage in the Quality Assurance/Improvement process to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in current practices.
- Participate in data collection, action plan development, and evaluation processes.
Other Duties:
- Comply with safety policies, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Ability to follow instructions and interpret documents.
- Effective listening and communication skills.
- Ability to write reports and correspondence.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret various instructions.
- Proactivity and the ability to work closely with others.
- Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of state and federal confidentiality laws, including HIPAA.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited school of Practical Nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in Nebraska.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Minimum of 9 months of current clinical nursing experience.
- Minimum of 3 months of experience in providing nursing care to dialysis patients.
- Compliance with Nebraska state law requiring LPNs to practice under the supervision of an RN.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Ability to walk/stand up to ten hours a day and sit up to three hours per day.
- Ability to perform repetitive fine manipulations and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift/move up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and eye-hand coordination.
- Exposure to infectious materials, hazardous chemicals, and moderate noise levels.
