Radiology Assistant - Radiology
POSITION SUMMARY: The Radiology Assistant is responsible to facilitate the flow of patients and their data through the appointment process in accordance with Radiology guidelines. Performs all administrative duties involved in checking the patients in and getting them ready for their procedure. Maintains image, report, and recall systems. Assists Technologist with escorting/transporting patients, room set-up and turnover. Responsible for accurately scanning radiographs and other pertinent documents into systems for reading and/or distribution.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following –

1. Answers department phones directing calls according to the needs and nature of the requests. Makes calls as directed.
2. Effectively interact with customers, suppliers, and all allied departments.
3. Makes CD’s and prepare films/CD’s for mailing as appropriate.
4. Maintain records of films/images received, and return them in a timely manner.
5. Maintains records of all films sent out and prepare return requests as needed
6. Accurately sends data to PACS and Meditech.
7. Ability to navigate the PACS to find patient images and efficiently resolve RIS/image conflicts.
8. Upload any prior imaging a patient may bring with them to a new exam.
9. When patients have had prior images, contact the facility for electronic transaction for anything pertinent.
10. Send requests for new providers to be added as appropriate.
11. Assist Technologist in the care of the patient, if needed.
12. Assist Technologist with lateral transfers and patient positioning, if needed.
13. Escort or Transport patient to, from, and within Radiology.
14. Assist with room set-up and/or turnover.
15. Chaperone as appropriate.
16. Stock rooms.
17. Handle delicate and tense issues in a helpful manner in order to objectively solve problems.
18. Follow all safety requirements and regulations that pertain to services performed by the department.
19. Must be knowledgeable of state and federal confidentiality laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, and be familiar with and follow all policies, procedures and instructions regarding the privacy and security of protected health information applicable to the position.
20. Must be able to meet physical demands and working conditions outlined below.
21. Regular and reliable attendance.
22. Other duties as assigned.

OTHER JOB DUTIES:
Knowledgeable of, and committed to practicing Corporate Compliance policies and procedures. Knowledgeable of HIPAA regulations and ensures the confidentiality of patient’s medical, personal and financial records is maintained. Complies with Cherry County Hospital personal policies. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EQUIPMENT AND WORK AIDS:

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook, etc.)
• Previous customer service experience in a healthcare setting, preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred.
• PACS and EMR knowledge and experience, preferred.
