Ultrasound Technologist - Radiology
POSITION: Ultrasound Technologist
REPORTS TO: Radiology Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of a physician and general supervision of the supervising technologist, performs ultrasound procedures in Diagnostic areas. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative in applying ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. To produce diagnostic ultrasound images in an acceptable and high quality manner to be interpreted by the physician or radiologist.
2. Consult with physicians and radiologists
3. Take call during evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as scheduled.
4. Adhere to the ALARA principle
5. Follow all safety requirements and regulations that pertain to service performed by the department.
6. Maintain radiology images.
7. Maintain radiology reports and insure the reports get to the ordering physician.
8. Responsible for the procurement, storage, and utilization of supplies
9. Keeps up to date of new procedures, equipment, and methods.
10. Must be knowledgeable of state and federal confidentiality laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, and be familiar with and follow all policies, procedures and instructions regarding the privacy and security of protected health information applicable to the position.
11. Must be able to meet physical demands and working conditions.
12. Other duties as assigned.

OTHER JOB DUTIES: Knowledgeable of, and committed to practicing Corporate Compliance policies and procedures. Complies with Cherry County Hospital personnel policies. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have graduated from a Diagnostic Medical Sonography Certification Program, an accredited radiology program or began doing ultrasound prior to 2000, and be a registered ARDMS sonographer planning to become certified in the immediate future.
