Responsibilities:
• Prepare and serve food for patients, staff, and special events according to the scheduled menu.
• Maintain food temperature and ensure all food items are prepared to the correct temperature.
• Follow recipes and adjust servings as necessary.
• Utilize concepts of special diets to prepare food items.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are maintained in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Restock kitchen, dining room, and Nutrition Center as needed.
• Assist with preparation of special events.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in training programs.
• Maintain confidentiality of patients' medical, personal, and financial records.
• Comply with Cherry County Hospital personnel policies and Corporate Compliance policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Must be knowledgeable of state and federal confidentiality laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, and be familiar with and follow all policies, procedures and instructions regarding the privacy and security of protected health information applicable to the position.
Skills and Abilities Required:
• Ability to prepare food in an attractive and appetizing manner.
• Ability to work safely with potentially dangerous equipment and utensils.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Interest in working with the public, patients, and families.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Adaptability to change and ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of state and federal confidentiality laws, including HIPAA.
Minimum Job Requirements:
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• One year of food service experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clear driving record required.
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for meal delivery to the jail.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Able to lift and carry packages and/or boxes of food or supplies up to 35 pounds.
• Must be able to do some repetitive movements and properly handle sharp instruments.
• Able to work in extreme hot or cold temperatures.
• Willing to work weekends, holidays, and some overtime.
