Pharmacy Technician
POSITION SUMMARY: A non professional health care employee, who under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist performs specific job responsibilities limited by the Nebraska DHHS Pharmacy Statutes.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Enters medication orders into Pharmacy Information System (PIS).
2. Prepares medication cart for check by pharmacist.
3. Enters returned/discontinued medications into PIS.
4. Reconciles medication charges on PIS.
5. Packages medications into U/D containers for check by pharmacist.
6. Check and refill automated medication systems and various floor stocks.
7. Check medication outdates.
8. Prepare medication-restocking orders.
9. Restock pharmacy shelves and supplies.
10. Update medication price changes/charge master.
11. Must be knowledgeable of state and federal confidentiality laws, including but not limited to HIPAA, and be familiar with and follow all policies, procedures and instructions regarding the privacy and security of protected health information applicable to the position.
12. Regular and reliable attendance.
13. Other duties as assigned.

OTHER JOB DUTIES: Assist other departments with medication charging information. Respect and preserve patient confidential information. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by Pharmacist in charge. Attend department staff meetings and in service programs. Knowledgeable of, and committed to practicing Corporate Compliance policies and procedures. Complies with Cherry County Hospital personnel policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completed pharmacy technician training per regulation.
• Previous hospital/pharmacy experience preferred but not required.
• Must not have ever been convicted of any drug related misdemeanor or felony.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Basic computer skills
• Satisfactory communication skills.
• Good reading and comprehension skills
• Ability to work under stress and adapt to change.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical mobility to be able to restock supplies and medications on existing shelving. Ability to use available protective equipment to protect against potentially toxic substances/infectious disease. Physically able to perform computer operations.

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, nonexempt.
